Cypress Cove - Kissimmee, Florida, USA
To be completely honest with you, it is a daunting task to even be able to write a review about our experiences at Cypress Cove that would do it justice. It is truly a wonderful property with fantastic amenities and is home to many delightful members and residents, as well as a charming and gracious team of employees. With all due respect to the other nudist resorts that we've been to, and in all fairness to those that we have not yet had the opportunity to visit, we feel confident in saying that Cypress Cove is THE gold standard for nudist resorts in the United States. If nothing else, it is certainly the first resort that comes to mind when people ask us about the social nude experience in the U.S. and what places we might recommend that they visit (either as a first-timer or a nude veteran).
Cypress Cove has been family owned and operated for decades and it really shows. The Hadley family treats this property like any other serious hospitality endeavor in the textile world and employs a full host of professionals to oversee the day-to-day operations of the resort. This oversight includes hundreds of acres that are home to just about everything you could possibly need and more! One of the best features of the Cove is the 50-acre Brown Lake that has an amazing beachfront and multiple boat docks where one could lay out and enjoy the view (or even catch a rocket launch from the nearby Kennedy Space Center). There are also a plethora of honor-system rentals for paddle boats and boards for those looking for more adventure or exercise—just be mindful of any alligators! It is our understanding that the gators are generally relocated once they are large enough to pose a serious threat to humans, but please heed this warning and don't do anything stupid!
In addition to the lake and beachfront area, there are plentiful sports courts for every court sport imaginable, as well as a golfing area! The main social hub of the resort centers around the primary pool and hot tub (yes, there are two pools AND two hot tubs!) where you can find Cheeks Bar & Grill that serves up delicious food and drinks around the clock. There is also a fully-equipped gym, children's playground, clubhouse, gift shop, hair salon, and massage parlor in this area. This is all in addition to the lobby office and gift shop that sells some pretty neat Cypress Cove merchandise alongside great nudist trinkets and snacks/beverages (they even sell small liquor bottles here if that's your thing). But that's not all! In addition to Cheeks for food & beverage (which we love by the way—you will usually find us eating 3 meals a day there if possible), there is the expansive Lakeside Restaurant (with a lake view, as the name suggests) and Scuttlehutts Bar for an alternative dining atmosphere and experience. Adjacent to Lakeside, you will also find another gem of the Cove: the American Nudist Research Library. Thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers over the years, the ANRL is one of the official nudist libraries in the United States and is home to an expansive collection of works documenting decades of nudist history. The library has specific posted hours and is absolutely worth popping in for a visit if you can!
Beyond the incredible amenities of the resort, Cypress Cove is also home to many year-round and seasonal residents, campers of all types, and high-quality hotel rooms that would be on par with any other modern hotel that you may have stayed at in the textile world. If you can only visit for the day, definitely do that, however, if you have the luxury of spending a few nights there (they often have specials for first-timers that stay 3 nights, or anyone who stays 7 nights, as well as discounts that recognize various memberships such as AANR and FYN) we would absolutely recommend immersing yourself in the full experience! Even if you are used to camping at nudist resorts, do yourselves a favor if you can and upgrade to a hotel room (they refer to them as villas) at the Cove! You will also find that the entire property (with paved streets with real street names that are an homage to the naturist way of life) is wonderful to stroll around and get some exercise and vitamin D at the same time. There are also some neat trails that take you to a tranquil nature park in the middle of the resort, away from the hustle and bustle of the more crowded social areas.
In closing, we will add that Cypress Cove is positioned outside of Orlando in a really convenient location if you wish to set it as your home base for a larger vacation. We did that during one trip and visited nearby Disney World (20~ minute drive) on two of the days that we then retreated back to the Cove for our overnight accommodation—it was a perfect combination! While the Cove is more inland than some of the other resorts in Florida, it is also only 80 miles from Playalinda Beach and the Canaveral National Seashore in case that sounds like a good road trip during your time there! We could go on and on for hours (or pages?) singing the praises of Cypress Cove, but you really have to experience it for yourself! We promise that you will not be disappointed!
